Pine Tree Golf Course first opened for play in 1960. Dick Wilson designed the course.
Pine Tree gained notoriety in 1962 after Ben Hogan called Pine Tree the greatest flat course in the world. The course presents a precise challenge and is considered one of Wilson’s finest designs. Despite the flat topography, Pine Tree is a strategic test. Bold, irregularly shaped, and thoughtfully positioned bunkers help define the brilliance of the course.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 7,172 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,385 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 16, a par-5 that plays to 666 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 13, a par-3 that plays 158 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 594-yard par-5 challenge, and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Pine Tree Golf Course is # 13, the 158 yard par-3.
